Rain? In the Pacific Northwest? Can you imagine such a thing? (We say as we're soaking wet from the two-block walk to the shop.) We made this rain jacket inspired by our favorite rainy place. 

Before Gore-Tex and all its plasticky descendants took over, waxed canvas was THE fabric for rain gear. We favor non-plastic options here at Shift + Wheeler: waxed canvas breathes, repels water, and it gets better looking the more you wear it. With proper care (re-waxing every year or two), this jacket will outlast your car, probably.

Made from 8oz waxed 100% cotton canvas with railroad denim accents. Features a hood, bottom pockets with both side and top access, and a slightly oversized fit designed to layer comfortably over sweaters and your bulkiest layers. Available in sizes S–5XL.

Care Instructions

Waxed canvas is known to age beautifully and patina over time. This is especially noticable and happens more quickly with lighter colors such as yellow. 

Cleaning Waxed Canvas

Brush off dirt or sand. Use a clean sponge or brush to gently massage small spots with cold water and a drop of mild soap. Rinse with cold water. Let the bag air dry. Do not use warm or hot water, laundry detergent, traditional washing, or dry cleaning.

Re-Waxing

To maintain the water resistance of your item, you may choose to re-wax in a year or two, depending on how much you use it.  Use canvas wax according to package instructions.

Shipping

We use the trusty ole USPS for all of our shipping needs. You can choose from Ground Advantage or Priority Mail. In stock orders generally ship within 2-3 days. Orders over $200 qualify for free shipping.

Returns

If you'd like to exchange an item, please send us an email, and send your package back to the return address on the shipping label within 30 days. The item must be in unused, like-new, condition or we cannot issue your exchange. Depending on the item, we may have to make one in your size. We are also happy to offer store credit. No refunds. No returns on custom orders.
