Had a wonderful time being guided through the process start to finish, from selecting my pattern size, marking, cutting, and pinning to all the many stages of sewing, serging, and ironing. Becky is incredibly knowledgeable and patient and helps you to create a garment that will look as close to a Shift dress as possible! The ability to make small changes to make it truly your own, such as bringing in your own (approved) fabric, using scrap to make your inside pocket pop, or leaving the bottom hem unfinished on denim all add to the magic of having a one of a kind dress based on tried and true patterning and durability.
If you're looking for a sign, here it is!

SO MUCH FUN!

From basically zero sewing skills to a completed hero wardrobe piece in just four hours?!? While having the BEST TIME??
Highly recommend this awesome class! Becky makes the process so approachable, chill and fun regardless of skill level and I left class feeling like I could actually tackle my own sewing projects at home, despite my previous unfamiliarity with a sewing machine.
And I finished my own suspender dress that I can wear around with extra pride!
All of the stars and glowing recommendations.

Suspender dress making class

Big fan of every Shift+Wheeler creation and getting the opportunity to create my own custom suspender dress was beyond words! What a generous offering to bring folks into the creative workplace and behind the scenes and to walk away with a finished work-of-art garment! Fantastic! Highly recommend for any/all sewing levels!

Don't hesitate! Enroll ASAP!

Very fun and relaxed atmosphere! I didn't know anyone in the class, but it quickly felt like a craft day with friends. I took a day trip to Astoria to take this class and drove home feeling like I had been on vacation.

I've been eyeballing the suspender dress for a while and finally purchased my first one earlier this month. Then I fell under its spell and found myself pre-ordering another AND signing up for this class.I love the versatility of this dress and how it can be worn through all seasons. It's a garment that I'll more than get my money's worth out of.

This comes at a time where I'm finding myself in the process of rebuilding my wardrobe to fit a different life and body shape. I also wanted high-quality pieces that will last for years. Making my own dress as part of this adventure has been both empowering and inspiring. THANK YOU, Becky!

If you're unsure because you don't have any sewing experience, I highly recommend this class. Becky is a patient and relaxed teacher and you will go home with your first completed garment. I wish this had been my introduction to garment sewing years ago. I could have avoided a lot of crying and swearing.

So much fun!

I learned so much while making my own Shift Suspender Dress last month. I've been a big fan of these dresses for years now and was delighted to be able to make my very own. Thank you!!!
