Class Date

Join Becky for an evening of mending or other handwork. BRING YOUR OWN PROJECT AND SUPPLIES. We'll offer a nice place to hang out, a little advice if we can give it, and the use of our sewing machines, irons, and sergers. We do have a bit of fabric scrap, if you're looking for visible mending patches, you're welcome to it! Please plan on being mostly self sufficient for this activity.

We're adding a small, casual learning capsule to each class, just a 10-20 minute demo by fellow menders.
May: Becky will demo how to fix denim that has holes in the thighs or butt, using a sewing machine to darn the fabric with matching thread
June: Ari will demo traditional sock darning, using a darning mushroom (or alternative object), and yarn to mend holes. Give your socks new life!
July: TBD

YES this used to be a free event, but due to no-shows, we've added a nominal price to encourage attendance. As always, if you can't make it, please notify us (email shiftwheeler@gmail.com) so we can open the spot to someone else. No refunds.

We do offer scholarships to those who can't pay (throw us a dm or email, no questions asked), and if you'd like to purchase extra sessions to pay it forward, please contact us.

There's room for 8 people per session.

Supportive space for creativity!

Mending Circle was great! I ended up knowing one person but everyone was friendly and welcoming. I appreciated the conversations about sustainability, local creators and sewing. Made some progress on my sweater repairs as well. I'll be back for sure!

LOVED IT!

It was so nice to have a specific time and space to finally start a project that has been literally sitting in my "mending basket" for two years.

What a sweet and productive time these mending circles have been!
Gathering in a space that's filled with Shift and Wheelers potent creative energy provides inspiration.
Big work surfaces, good lighting and machines n humans ready to help.
Working with my hands to repair loved pieces feeling like an act of rebellion in this fast fashion world.
I look forward to future sessions.
